USAGE: What happens to a Domain once it's cancelled by the registry?
After cancellation or expiry, .NZ Domains are placed on hold for 90 days, in 'pending release' mode. At this stage they are inactive. During this time you will not be able to use the Domain, but you will be able to renew it. Once the 90 day period is over the name will be made available again for public registration.

After cancellation of a global Domain, its status is changed to "Pending Release" which means the Domain is on hold for 30-90 days until it is released back into the Domain pool for others to register.

Instructions for getting a domain name uncanceled, and associated fees can be found at http://knowledgebase.loungenetwork.co.nz/index.php?op=view&t=186
